River Ranch Custom Homes, LLC is led by John Shaw, Mary Ellen Shaw & Lisa Garvey.

John & Mary Ellen Shaw have been building custom homes since 1993. They have built and completed major remodels of several dozen homes over the past 3 decades. The vast majority of the custom homes have been for their personal use. Their approach to building a custom home has always been to maximize the quality while minimizing the cost and we will take the exact same approach when building your new custom home.

Lisa Garvey went to work for a well-known architect and large commercial contractor over 3 decades ago. During those years she learned a tremendous amount about construction, design and all phases of project management.

While interning with a designer in Southwest Colorado she found passion for putting knowledge into action. After that, she was invited by Purgatory Ski Resort to go out on her own with the promise of endless future projects and clients.  She made the leap to open her own firm at the age of 27. Over 2 decades later she is still the preferred designer and contractor for that same ski resort. Lisa takes great pride in the fact that her entire career has been referral driven.

Over the years she has teamed up with a handful of general contractors to help develop, design and/or manage the custom finishes of a few well-known local golf and ski communities.

Lisa's primary business has always been second homes for out-of-state clients. She is honored by the trust that her clients put in her, to create their luxury dream vacation homes in their absence.

Lisa loves bringing her client’s (and inevitable friends) visions to life. She has been supremely rewarded by following her passions. She has surrounded herself with artists, craftsmen, tradesmen and resources that allow her to create/construct anything that can be dreamt up...and she is looking forward to doing the same for the new clients of River Ranch Custom Homes, LLC.

When you choose River Ranch Custom Homes to build your new home, we will provide you with a fixed cost price from permitting through a weather tight shell and then provide you will allowances for all finishes and any other variable components of your project based upon your unique preferences... which will be drawn out during consultations with Lisa and her design team.  We look forward to the opportunity to build your new custom home whether it is at Shaw's River Ranch or anywhere else in Chaffee County, Colorado.

What Clients Say

“Organization reins when planning a new home or remodeling an existing one. That’s where Lisa shines! She created the perfect look for my summer home in Colorado a few years ago, and I was so pleased I asked her to put her creative hat on again for my new home in Texas. A mountain style home in Texas is unusual and presents unique challenges when sourcing furnishings, lighting, and more. Lisa got on board immediately with her favorite artists and suppliers. She consulted with my electrician on the lighting and sourced all of my handmade fixtures. She directed me to the perfect craftsmen for my furnishings and rugs. She checks and rechecks for detail and always keeps me abreast of the project status. Its going to be a home run when this master piece is completed later this year!”
